Live SPL show webcam broadcast this Sunday

Hi everybody,

At our first SPL/SQ event this year, we are going to attempt to have a live webcam feed from the show posted online. We are going to attempt having 2-3 cameras online, right from the SPL lanes. This is a pilot project, in order to do some testing to see how well this works, so that we can attempt to have a larger broadcast later in the year at a much larger event, with several cameras. My ultimate goal here is to get as many people watching as possible, to load down the server, to test the effects of running the broadcast, in order to fine tune the system for the larger show which is in September.

The event is THIS SUNDAY, May 14, 2006.

If you want to tune in, log onto http://www.teamshadowspl.com, the show will start at noon PST, although the cam should be online earlier than that.

I'd really like to get an audio feed happening as well, but as it stands right now, we are very pressed for time. I could run a simple Shoutcast, but the load on the connection at the shop would be too much, so I would need to find a way to port it through the server. If anybody knows a way to do this, please tell me!!! The server is running Linux, if it was Windows I think it would be a bit easier.

I was testing last night, and the image from the cam that I was using was approx 9kb in size, updating at 5 second intervals. You can get the address of the image from the main page of the site when the feed starts, and then paste it into your address bar and refresh just the image and you should be able to follow fairly closely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think its an awesome idea. I wish there were more of these so everyone can see whats going on across the country in areas too far to travel for guys like me.
