4 or 5 years ago the dome was more active. But it was also more active due to a relatively small click of people. People who thought it was funny to watch mods random-ban people due to playing hangman, posting in a thread labeled for 'oldschool' members only, passing around moderator login info, etc. Many of the people left here that consider that the golden era of ca.com rarely venture outside the dome. This is not thunderdome.com. Im sorry some people wish those times would return, but those sorts of actions simply wont sustain a large population that is here to discuss car audio.
Trolling outside the dome has dropped drastically since then, and people here to discuss car audio find it a more inviting platform to do that. Gone are the times when someone would post a sub vs sub thread that another member is tired of, so they ruin the thread by posting gay porn pics. Gone are the times that someone gets butthurt over an argument about amplifier brands, so they get the other guy banned by winning at hangman. And gone are the times of thread after thread erupting into a cuss-fest because a few teen age members lose their cool over a JL Audio thread. There are plenty of other sites on the internet to allow that sort of behavior, this is no longer one of them. If you think that means the best times at ca.com are also gone, maybe you should re-evaluate why you are hanging out at a car audio website.

Secondly, the 03/04ers complained in 07 about content. The 07er in 2012 are complaining about activity. Two different things.

On your first point, we'll have to agree to disagree. And as I said before, I saw, more than once, someone get random-banned for a dispute that took place outside the dome.
As for your second point, the people complaining about activity are complaining about activity in the dome.

Uhm, you weren't even here then. I was. The biggest decline Ive seen on this site, in terms of car audio, is the major audio manufacturers leaving (like Manville and Tracey). But, they certainly did not leave due to the decline of the antics in the dome. As a matter of fact, Ive seen more than one manufacturer state they would not want to be associated with a site that conducts itself in a juvenile manner.

Oh I don't dispute your point. I just don't recall it being one of the clique you are referring to. Or maybe I think of different members.
That is correct. There is a fellow called keephopealive or whatever that drops good knowledge outside the dome. But everything most everyone could ever need is available by search so I don't have a need to post outside the dome...and most people who have been here for a while gravitate to the dome for that very reason.
It was known at the lounge. It changed to the dome in 2008 or so.
