Update on Skar Website Virus

I know alot of people here encountered the virus on Skar's site. Skar denies it was there.

However, I have done some more investigation. It was a rootkit/trojan. It deleted components to windows services such as Windows Update, BITS (Background Intelligence Transfer Service), and Windows Firewall/Windows Defender services and .dll files requires to access those components of Windows OS.

The rootkit prevents you from updating windows, running Windows malicious software removal, and disables the firewall for unlimited data transfer without you knowing about it.

Im in the process of restoring these items myself.

Anyone who encountered the website would be encouraged to do a Windows Update or check to see if Windows Firewall/Windows Defender is still active. To check for Windows Update go to Start, Windows Update. To check for Windows Firewall/Windows Defender go to Start, Control Panel, Windows Defender. If you have an issue here you should see this:

I intentionally infected myself. Others may not have been so lucky and may have underlying issues that they dont realize yet.

Hell no. That takes the fun out of it. I had everything I needed already downloaded to remove the infection. WinPatrol, Emsisoft Command Line Scanner, Malwarebytes Antimalware, TakeOwnership registry edit, and Hitman Pro. I just turned off my wireless card with the hardware switch.

A vendor can advertise in their signature all they want. Regular users can not. If that were the case any vendor could ask hundreds of members to advertise for them for free. Mcafee enterprise, Avast, MSE, Kaspersky all show clean for the website. Also, symantec webscan also shows clean.
