also, hip hop has ALWAYS been about money, jewels, women, cars, smoking weed, selling base etc...whoever said that it hasn't, never really listened to the songs...it's just how they did it....Hip Hop is all about flashy and being better than the next man, that's how it all got started...

Wrong hip hop is about dj, mc, break dancing, graffiti.

no, im not wrong...you are referring to the elements of hip hop, not what songs are about...the songs have always been about the same thing...when i say hip hop, i am referring to the music aspect solely...also, rap is something you do, hip hop is something you live if you want to get technical...

Please look into the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Ghostface Killah, RAKIM, and many others. I'm sure if you ONLY listened to the stuff that comes on the radio, then MAYBE you could justify him as being the best rapper you've HEARD. Even though I think there are better dudes than him on the radio such as Chamillionare and Ludacris.. but whatever, keep on being newbs.

I guess I'm getting at what your saying, but rap is not hip-hop, rappers rap about what they do, what do they do, they f*ck ho's, they deal drugs, and some do drugs, they kill, they ball or floss, in other words their gansters, hence ganster rap, are you a rapper or gangstar rapper if you don't do these things or are you just rapping about some stuff you think is cool. what other types of rap are there?

when an emcee spits into a mic, is he hip hopping or rapping? when you break dance, are you a rapper? no you are a breaker, and breaking is part of....Hip Hop...rapping is a subset of Hip Hop, just one of the 4 (or 5) elements as you pointed out...Hip Hop is a culture, a style, an art form...a rapper can make Hip Hop music, because it's a style of music...Hip Hop is everything associated with it...

so, rap is something you do, hip hop is something you live...if you aren't familiar with this statement, than there is no real use in having the discussion about the subject...

aren't you mc'ing not rapping your trying to move the crowd, your trying to motivate I guess it's like when you go to a party and the dj going then the dj get on the mic and starts saying some s**t to get you on the dance floor and get you to dance or breack dance more likely, so when you listen to rap you should be pulling a bank job or cutting some coke. intentionally.
