Let's talk amps and box rise

why would you get double the power to power woofers that are only rated for a certain power...

if at your peak you get rise up to 2x or 3x great, that is you most efficient frequency and it will be loud with little power, but the second a different note plays you could very well be putting double power to your woofers.

by getting a amp double the rms of the woofer you could only hope for a 3db gain, IF you box was built properly to utilize the power for that woofer properly. most people that double power to a setup that is already working relatively efficiently gain a little over 1db.

just look at clamp results, generally the woofer rated for 600rms will be loudest on 600rms. once you start nearing the next woofer tier the 1000rms woofers will be loudest

put some power on your fvcking woofers and build the enclosure to make you happy with the power/woofer you are using. there are plenty of people doing 150 while clamping near 1k (which can be done with just about any true 1k amp)

do you really dont know what RMS means or how its derived. RMS is root mean squared. its really used in output devices not input devices. the true definition that the industry doesnt even use is really contunious power input. the standard is white or pink noise for 8 hours stright. the fault is that speakers are very inefficent and applying this amount of power on a RMS output on music isn't the same. the fact is measuring power compression on a music basis and on 8 hour pink noise is completely different. they also use peak power which is typically a short burst of power. while music sometimes can be contunious it is often dynamic. futhermore recordings are all different.

when i say a music rating im talking about doubling the AES standard rating.

I fear you may be right, lol.
sadly yes.

we are talking about car audio sub woofers... basically the dumbest thing to replicate sound.

i dont know of any car audio company that rates their woofers by playing pink noise for 8 hours.

i am simply talking about playing a sign wave on a woofer and checking the voltage and current.

V x I = watts in its simplest form. 99% of people dont even need to know about rise as most average joes clamp by setting their meters to max hold and multiplying the numbers.

put a little power on a sub and it will make noise. put more power on and it will make more noise.

99% of people dont even need to know about rise
Thank you!
The next step is to get people to stop calling it rise. Then we'll move on to explaining that a coil that measures .7 at rest is a 1 ohm coil, and so on.

Nah. I know this is helping at least one guy.

I had to google what the hell KMSL meant that you always are typing... Does it mean kill myself laughing?Cuz that's retarded and doesn't even make sense
Ha....he says it in every single thread.

His favorite saying and the end of his replies. Imo, it's gettin' old.
