Lets discuss tipping

is people's tipping mentality exclusive to the food/beverage industries? what about your mechanic, or barber...tattoo artist/piercer. they are all services. show them your appreciation for a job well done if it applies.
..and now back to your regularly scheduled postings...
Just the most common. I tip people who do services for me, barbers and stuff like that...

Shut up dude. You obviously have never worked as a waiter, nor have been gifted with any brain cells.
No I haven't. I don't want a job that pays that little.

You people are all jumping to conclusions. I didn't say I never tip. I said I don't agree with the attitude that it is mandatory.

I tip accordingly based on the service that is given.. usually though I leave about 20%. Also, I always give a dollar to the bartender or waitress after every drink ordered.

their paid that little because they expect people to tip the server according to the quality of service. The company has to pay the difference if their tips add up to below minimum wage..

That way they get paid what their worth....

If the service is horrible, they don't deserve a nice tip, or sometimes a tip at all if it was really that bad.

If the service was good, you need to realize these people are only making $2-3 an hour.

What I want to know is how the hell did restuarants get away with not paying half of their workers minimum wage, and thrusting it on their customers...

Nothing is mandatory. I don't have to obey laws, but I do, because its the right thing to do, tipping is the right thing to do, not based on morals, but rather social economics.

Same here. If they are rude or bitchy or never refill my pop or take forever to bring the check I won't tip them.
I hope you never go to the same place twice. Your going to get a shit sandwich someday. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Meh. I rarely eat out and the only time I haven't left a tip was at Applebees when the waitress was a complete bitch. I also haven't been back there since.

Tip a mechanic? Nah. I always tip when I get my hair cut though. No tats, so can't say there. Most of my friends who work for tips, do seem to tip more people. Hell I've seen em tip at mcdonalds.

IMO, you should only get tipped when you put in the effort. If you give me really shitty service, expect a really shitty tip, period.

if the service was that shitty....I wouldn't be going back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I go in with the mindset that thay already have a 20% tip. If the service sucks its reduced accordingly. If they do their job and keep me happy they keep the 20%.

I always tip at least 10% but that is for horrible service. Its usually around 20%. And at least a dollar a round at the bar.

I also tip my barber, tattoo artist, valet or anyone else that can fuck my shit up if I dont take care of them. I do just about all my own work on my vehicle so a mechanic doesnt come into play

fukk.... 2-3 bucks an hour? what is the minimum wage in america? up in canada, im gettin 8 an hour (minimum wage) plus all the tips i (doing a delivery job)... usually like 40-50 in tips + whater the 8*hours i work is a night
