Legal Limit on Tint?

i'm assuming that's my front windshield. if it is, it's either just the pic or the reflection. and in any case, it's stock... i'll look at it in the morning and see but i'm pretty sure i know every little detail about my car.

hey man..

i live by you and me and my bro got 5% and and so do i

the 5 0 dont say shit by me and so i wouldnt rlaly worry bout it..and i lvie in a small town with a lot of cops and u live in the city

Yeah there are meters to check tint. If you live in maryland you'd know since you have to be metered at the MVA before being able to get registered. They also meter the actual alllowed light.

here min is 40% but if you get 40% tint you can still fail. Mine registerd at 42%

After a vehicle is registed i guess put whatever tint you feel comfortable with. However, I would not follow the advice of rolling up on the cops bumpin your system with the windows up...Wonder if people actually read what they type.

The legal tint limit varies from state to state, county to county. But most states/counties have roughly the same limit. Other than large cities where a lot of illegal activities go on in.
In most places the legal tint level is 35% in the front, and 15% in the back, and you can have nothing on your windshield other than the top 6 inches. However, there is no "tint meter" that a cop can use, most is guessing. I have 15% all around, and have never been stopped for it. Although it is not that dark, and is still somewhat visible up front because of the windshield's light, you can still not make out exactly what is going on in the car, which I like.... And at night, you can not see through it, unless you put your hands on the glass, in which case, I would be forced to open the door and harm you to the fullest extent of my Nine...
Absolutely wrong. Ever since the state of Louisiana enacted regulations regarding window film darkness police departments all across the state purchased tint meters in bulk. I would assume that something similar will hold true for every state that has tint laws.

And when is the last time a cop has used this to determine the opacity of a car tint?
Looked it up, seems like it is more for scientific purposes and not automotive use...
I was pulled over last summer leaving work by a bored deputy sheriff. The reasoning given was my use of driving lights in non-inclimate weather (another STUPID Louisiana law)

After looking over my car at the myriad of things he could have technically written me citations for he took a meter out of his trunk, took a reading on my back door windows and informed me that he could write me up for that as well and force me to remove the window film. I guess he just needed to feel important for a bit as he turned me loose with a warning after checking to see that I had valid license/registration and current insurance.

The point being ~ so long as you're doing nothing shady and your ride's legit...if you should get pulled over for whatever reason and you're polite to the cop they most likely won't get their panties in a bunch over some too-dark tint.

It's more of reasons to pull people over to make sure they don't have more going on. Amazingly enough the ones who don't carry insurance or have valid licenses etc are the ones who won't fix simple shit either like brake lights/headlights.
