I did this in my 5th ave. I made a quick circuit using a bridge rectifier, Zener diode, a few resistors, and LED's. Worked perfect for years. I had the port facing into my interior and wanted a glow to match custom LED lighting. Voltage from the amp output is what drove the circuit wired in parallel with the subs but the input impedance was high enough to not affect the amp.
