Least Favorite Subs and Amps?

Just wondering what your guys' least favorite amps and subs are...Please, no Pups this time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif And leave out general things like "everything Pyle" or something like that...keep it specific, like Pyle Blue Wave's.

Rockford T1/T2

Rockford Punch (all but HX2)

Thump Pro 8

Phoenix Gold Octane R

My least favorite amp...

This one Rockwood I have that has like nothing internally. Literally, it has a dinky transformer and a couple resistors lol

My least favorite old school amplifiers are: Linear Power, anything made by Zed, and the Soundstream Reference S/SX series because of those GD switches.

Least favorite new amplifiers based on actual use: Hifonics BXi prior to 2010, Alpine PDX (not sure about the re-designed series), DEI's Orion, Memphis Car Audio, and I am sure I forgot a few.

Current amps I will not buy based on their reputation: Power Akoustik, Kole, SPL Audio, Merlon, Autotek, Boss, Legacy, Pyramid, Pyle, Sony, Zed.

Subs... The only sub that I initially hated was a pair of JL Audio 10w3v2s because I made the mistake of following JL Audio's recommendations when it came to the enclosure design. After modeling them and seeing that the enclosure needed to be roughly TWICE the size that JL Audio claimed, they were too impracticable for in-vehicle use. I don't know about anyone else here, but I was NOT willing to build a 6 cubic foot enclosure tuned in the 20 Hz range for a pair of 10s that only handle 300 watts RMS each.

I would have to say Power Akoustic MOFO 15 122x's Are my least favorite sub...As for amps..Probably Lightning Audio amps, Not just because they ****, But people around here think they are beatin hard with them and some sonys...

Based on experience, Rockford P1's, P2's and Kicker Comp VR's, CVX's. The RF's are total crap and the Kickers require way too much airspace compared to much better subs of the same sizes.

For amps, the MA Audio HK4000d, that thing was so inefficient, I get 1000 watts more out of my current daily amp.

That's a pretty broad statement, any particular reason besides that people like them like how they liked your LP amps that you hated?

I see them for sale on here and other forums and want to tell people not to waste their money on them, but don't wanna get banned for post dumping. With a modded 4000d at .5 ohms I was seeing 2000 watts at 14.3, with my Orion 2500d at .5 I get 2850 clamped at 13.4 volts.

Blind nut hugging of ANY brand is now a major turnoff for me these days. Also, go look at the posts by Stephen Mantz on DIYMA... He speaks from both sides of his mouth and is pulling his usual holier than thou attitude that he always seemed to pull when being interviewed by the various car audio publications many moons ago. I remember one particular interview from the late 80s or early 90s where he stated that car audio wouldn't be where it was at the time had it not been for him. I guess he forgot that Jim Fosgate and Robert Zeff were designing 12 volt electronics LONG before Zed was even a thought in car audio.

I am slightly interested in the new design but their old design sucked donkey balls. I tried a PDX-5 in my Mustang and it had the uber noisy front and rear channels that could be heard during the quiet passages while driving. That is no small feat since I have a Borla Stinger exhaust on my vehicle. Also, the sub channel was super weak and if I had to venture to guess, there is NO WAY it gave me 300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. I also assisted a couple of friends with the 4 channel PDX amplifiers and they had the same noise issues... In other words the HISSSSS I heard in 3 different amplifiers in 3 different vehicles was not something I could dismiss as a fluke.

I won't hate on the 9500 line nor some of their older amps. But they have gone down the road most traveled as with most of the big brands. They do what sells, and what sells the most is flash and style.
