learing how to repair amps?

I've always been interested in learning how to repair amps, is there any way to learn without paying a fortune?

Lmk what you guys have for suggestions because I want to begin doing it just for curiosity sake.

Parts express probably has books on the subject.

you would need test equipment afaik before fixing the amps themselves. gotta figure the problem before you can fix it.

talk with spooney or some of the other guys here that fixes amps... would need eq. for testing.. and other eq for fixing etc...

Check your local library, perhaps. They are free if you don't find them useful.

I would recommend hanging out at diyAudio. Ge yourself an amplifier kit (home audio) and build it. Nothing teaches troubleshooting techniques like building an electronics assembly from scratch.

I agree with this. I learned most of what I know about amp repair from this site. There is a man named Perry Babin that post there regularly that sells his own amp repair tutorial and is always willing to help you with a repair. He is the best. When I bought the tutorial it was about 50 bucks so thats not too terrible in my opinion
