LCD vs Plasma

I was told plasma has bad reflections because of the glass front on it. The LCD has a slower refresh rate.

I just bought a DLP. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

lcd shouldnt have bad reflections unless its facing the window or glass door though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif im thinkin about gettin a little 20-22" lcd for the bedroom.

So I have heard that Plasma looks great the day you get it than it deteriorates over time. Is this true? Are lcds better. If you are not using HD which one would you choose?

In actual use, they are both similar in lifespans.

The question of which would you use if you arent going to use HD is actually not the important question.

The important question is will it be used with content that has a lot of constant images onscreen?

Content such as games, with a static score in one corner, or TV programs with a constant logo at the bottom over a long time can burn those images into a Plasma's screen.

LCD doesnt suffer from that problem.

I had a 37" LCD but traded it in for a Panasonic 42" Plasma. I would never go back. I dont do gaming on this tv. From what I have read the plasmas should last as long as anything else. DLPs look great also. The only issue I had with LCD was motion blur. I am sure the top of the lines dont have near the issue the cheaper models have. But I wouldnt buy a plasma without an extended warranty.

X2. My buddy has a permanant Nascar tachometer burned in his. It mostly shows up on a blue screen.

It depends on the content and your eyes...

Life is very similar, especially if you are going to be going with a good quality Plasma or LCD. I have been told and have seen it from general experience on a new Plasma TV it's almost as hard to burn and image in it as it was on a standard CRT tv.

LCD is usually considered to be "brighter" which gives you a much more "stunning" picture however you pay for this with loss of black scale and depth. A plasma gives you a much more "real" picture. Also, I have found that my eyes get tired watching movement such as sports on an LCD while on a plasma it does not, because the plasma seems smother. I spent 4 hours in a TV shop with the Sony XBR3, and some other TVs, side by side to the Pioneer Elite Pro-940HD looking at SDTV, HDTV, SDMovies, and HDMovies. To my eyes the Elite looks better, and more real. At first the Sony looked better, but after watching them both for a bit of a time period me, my mother, my brother, and the sales guy agreed that the Elite looked better.

SO, shop carefully, and don't believe the Plasma hate stories. Except on the cheap Plasmas... haha.....
