lanzar what you think

All lanzar subs sound like ass...

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif i got 4 MAX P124D's in a wall and they actually hurt alot of top of the line subs but to each their own! I also have 2 pheniox gold 12's in a car and 3 kicker L7's in a 84 regal and they kill the pheniox gold's even though theres only 2

I honestly can't complain about the older Vibe amps.

Had a 4-channel back in my noob days. While I can't say whether or not it actually output it's rated power as I never benched it....it survived all the abuse I gave it, and lasted a good year without any problems.

Hell, for about a two week period I had two of the channels bridged into a 2ohm load. It would kick into protection after a minute or two of hard play (like it should), and survived the abuse without issue.

the vibe amps that were good looked exactly like optis, with the opti badge removed, and one that said vibe on it instead.

even back when the GOOD vibe amps were made, there were all sorts of different looking vibe amps. i don't know why lanzar amps don't have similar cosmetics consistantly through their product lines.

there's black vibe amps, gray vibe amps, huge oversized silver amps with blue lights, etc. all called vibe, and all 2006.

the original vibe1200D put out 1100 watts, and was PWM regulated, just like the optis, and that single amp is the reason 'vibe' amps are usually regarded as good, but the only ones that are gauranteed to be good are the optis, which are about 20x more expensive than any other lanzar.

i had a pair of the 12" ST (street team) square subwoofers by lanzar.

i had just bought an opti2000D, and when i was browsing auctions on ebay, i stumbled across them.

the auction and lanzar's web page alike said "1000w rms, 2000w max"

upon arrival, the box said "500w rms, 1000w max" and i called lanzar to get my money back, and they said "it was simply a misprint, those specs were supposed to be for the heritage 12" subwoofer, it's been fixed now"

they blew in like 5 minutes, and i saved up some money for some real L7 12's, since i was already stuck with a box with square holes

My first noob set up contained an older lanzar vibe series amp and i can't really complain about it. It pushed my 2 old pioneer subs pretty well and this setup hit a 139.7 on the TL metered by Nick Wright of IA. These are decent budget amps if you don't have the money.

compared to?
Compared to pretty much anything. Gotta remember, this sub was built when you were 7 years old. You probably didn't know car audio existed until after the Sound Around buyout. You would have a totally different view of companies like Lanzar and PPI and Orion and Soundstream and Hifonics and, well, pretty much all of them, if you were doing this back when they were all made in the USA and not owned by some gigantic corporation. When Lanzar was built in Canoga Park, CA and PPI and Orion both had Made In USA proudly emblazoned on everything they built. It was a different time then. And 11 years after it was built, I would easily put my 10" Lanzar DC SVC 4 ohm against pretty much anything built today in terms of SQ. Only sub I've found that I would even think of replacing my DC with is an AA Assassin.

ya those older vibe 1200d's did rated power or at least really really really close, all off 12v or less.... for the money they are some of the best budget amps in the $150 or less catogory. i loved mine before i sold it to get more power. the optidrive are better quality, relativly efficent, and reliable for daily driving. other than the opti's and old vibes (only the class D vibes, never used the class AB's but id imageing they wouldnt sound too nice), the rest of lanzars stuff isnt worth the money. the vibe 1200d and 1800d are worth it, as well as the opti's.
