Lanzar Opti D vs Opti HC

Anyone know the difference between these two lines of amps? On their website I saw the slight variation (hc vs d). The HC seems to have less harmonic distortion (.04%) while the D has (.1%). Is the HC a class D amp or is it AB? It says that it has technology that makes it more efficient than an AB but is it still an AB? If it's an AB class amp it's going to be bigger than a class d that produces the same power correct? Thanks.

As far as I can tell, the HC is similar to an AB. It will want a lot of current to feed it. More then the D would be I'd imagine. You wont hear that minimal amount of distortion. IIRC 1.5-2% THD is the point where the ear can pick it up.

IF they are rated at the same amount of power, I'd honestly get the class D just for the current factor.

Good stuff man. Thanks for info. Since you live in Texas let me go off topic now. How are your property taxes out there? I here they are high. Do you know what % they are of a houses value? How much can they increase on a yearly basis? Is there a ceiling on how much it can increase each year? Do you have state income tax and sales tax out there as well? Plan on moving out there in probably 3 years but want to make sure that I can afford a house payment and taxes.

Strange - High current is almost always associated with a/b amps. And an HC amp that produces X watts at 2 or 1 ohm is almost always (always?) less efficient than a regular a/b amp producing the same power at 4 ohms.

However - in the documentation for the Lanzar HC amps they describe them like they're class D's, and they even specify sub-only frequencies.

Hmmm...
