Hey, i was wondering if this is a good amp. And another thing, it says it does 250x2 rms @4 ohms, 420x2 rms @2 ohms, so does this mean that it will do 840x1 rms @ 4 ohms bridged? And also, will it work fine with an 8 guage wire hooked up, or is it going to need 4 guage?

I'm about as big a Lanzar homer as there is, but there's simply no way that thing's going to be CLOSE to it's ratings.

The comparison I always draw is to the original black Vibes since I know those had fairly accurate ratings, (still over-rated) and the chassis size, fuse size, and even location of the controls are the same. Plus, I've seen the internals of a Heritage 414 vs. a Vibe 410, the edge went to the 410 -- dual power supplies vs. single and a little more capacitance. So if you apply that logic to a 244 and compare it to the somewhat accurate ratings of the 240 you're looking at 750 bridged, which is still quite a stretch. I know the 430 was rated at 400x2 bridged and was really 300.

So - to make a long story longer - I think you'd be doing good to get 500 REAL watts from the 244.

I can't believe Lanzar went so overboard on the ratings of their budget stuff.
