Lanzar amp? Worth anything?

A buddy wants to power 2 12" Type R's, he doesn't have them yet so he can get either dual 4 or dual 2, whichever matches with an amp the best. He's looking at this one.. I can't say as I'm too fond of the brand from hearsay, but I've never actually used them.

So the question is.. how would this amp be at powering 2 12" Type R's?

I've heard only the Lanzar Opti series is worth a crap. I actually owned an Opti 2000 and it definitely made 2k or close to it. Was a pretty solid amp. I can't speak for the particular model you have linked to though.

Any other suggestions for amps to power them? Preferrably bang-for-your-buck amps (cheaper, lol).

How about a Hifonics BXI1606. They actaully put out closer to rated power and shoudl be sufficient for a pair of D4 Type Rs

Prince range.. no idea really. From the price on the Lanzar it's reletively cheap, though.

Btw, for reference, he's upgrading form 3x MTX 4500s and an MA 800 watt amp to the 2 Type R's.

i only like the old skool lanzars such as: opti 2500 and the 50c

I had my Opti2000d running at .5 on a pair of Rockford T2 10's It pushed the heck out of them. Those Optidrives get real hungry at .5ohms though. Definitely have at least the big 3 done if you go that route. It's a good choice though I think.

Not too hard for him to do the big 3, and maybe upgrade his starting batt, ot getting one to put in the back.

Even if he gets the d4's, running that amp at 1 ohm would be plenty to push those type r's

Check out the Lanzar htg2600d (1200 rms give or take)

they can be found for around $150

Same on the Lanzar opti1400
