Hey guys. Cool forum. Thanks in advance for the help.
I blew the speakers in my 1999 Land Rover Disco. The front door speakers to be exact.
So I bought a pair of 6.5" mb quart qsd comps. I am giving them 175 watss via Jl Audio amp.
I also bought an alpine head unit.
Now I need to know two things.
1) What do i need to make the new alpine head unit work? I saw a wiring harness as well as this http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=2676&cat=317&page=1. That makes it sound like the new amp actually has rca inputs.
2) Considering question 1, I would like to keep the rear speakers and subwoofer. Is this possible? Is that what the thing in the link does?
I am pretty opposed to getting subwoofers put in the car. I used to have jl subs in previous cars. Now that I am producing more albums, I feel that the subwoofer over does the bass.
I listen to and produce rock/indie rock/jazz. So in my case I am used to having very flat speakers. I listen to dynaudio studio monitors all day long. While I know the Qsd's are not flat, they are a very good quality musical speaker. I feel that the addition of even an 8" subwoofer may frustrate me.
Now, the subwoofer I have in there is perfect for me. It adds alot of attack to bass drum and bass guitar. For me, it adds just the right amount. So I would like to use the rest of the factory speakers and subwoofer.
Experienced car audio experts please help me.
