Don't try Feisty Fawn 7.04 on a Dell laptop though. It wouldn't even detect my cd/dvd drive after installing the OS with the DVD image. dmesg |more shows its not even probing a drive other than sda. Also have fun with the wireless IF you use that, it normally doesn't work without you removing the ndiswrapper the base install uses and finding the correct tutorial for updating for your specific chipset.rm -rf /
lol
If you want to try UNIX/Linux again, check out Ubuntu. It's extremely easy. On install it configured more of my hardware automatically than Windows did.

Mandrake was the first nice distro too exhibit Windows ease, but Ubuntu has excelled further than Mandriva(aka mandrake). I suggest you take a gander at ubuntu. If it was my choice I would run administrative offices off Ubuntu with Open Office. Slack was/is alright, but Ubuntu is more poised to take mainstream than all the other distros. Still not ready for the consumer "we don't wanna change" market than any of them IMO, but still not close enough to get sheep to switch. Crossover is also helping to ail the shortcomings of nix distros IMO. I do think with more aggressive campaigning the commercial market could be convinced to switch to ubuntu and open office.can you? heh. a friend of mine (g04) actually got xwin to work on NETBSD (which is ALL console) i miss *nix //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif last time i used it was slack7.1 god i need to make a new computer and get a new distro. dont even know whats out anymore, wonder what version slackware is on. never used anything except slack and mandrake. mandrake was my first distro. then went onto slack7.1

First of all you need to grasp console. Whether in win or nix if you want to understand hacking in any form. The GUI by default will only show you the virtual world it was designed to show you. Having basic understanding of console and programming is the only way to understand it. The front end will show you nothing.i dont get how people hack stuff. its over my head. how do even access stuff to hack stuff?
p.s. that pic is gross. what if that was her puddin? lol
