I'm trying to get these buggers done in 3 days, I've worked at my job each day so not much time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif These will be holding a pair of CDT CL-61's

Click thumbs for big guys

Day One: Mold and trim...

Didnt take pics of the mold process... nothing special, just layed down a bunch of masking tape....

Molds taken out!

Molds trimmed with scissors and jigsaw...

Day Two. Construction...

Made some thingers from 1/2" scrap MDF and a jig.. then after dancing I used a jigsaw to cut these out.

Attached the thingers to the mold (I added another layer of glass to the mold before this)

Sacraficed a couple t-shirts for my evil deeds in this picture.

Threw down a few layers of glass and test fit em, not bad, will take some serious bondo'n to make em look good, hopefully I can do that and paint tomorrow, might take two days though...

:wont let me post anymore thumbs:

lol glad to see others trash their vehicles as i do as i build lol. imma little curious about tweeter placement there. you try it out/test yet?
Yep, did some testing before I fixed the baffle. Nothing too scientific, you can tell much fromt he pics, but the tweets have a clear path to the driver listening position even though it looks like the dash is covering them, it isnt. I have the CDT extra tweeter kit thing too, I'll be making a-pillar pods for those, they are just a high crossed over tweet set with an L-pad to help raise the soundstage, works well.

BTW, I had these speakers in pods already, but that was when I was new to glass and they sucked, so I'm just re-doing them.

EDIT: you should see my back seats //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

lol. reason i asked is alot of people mount the tweeter lower so the dash doesnt effect the heigth presence of the tweeter.
Well it sounded ok in my testing so I'll keep my fingers crossed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

looks good, i am nervous about your floor mats. if you ever change them, you will have an odd shape to the floor with your pods //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

they look real nice tho.

how are you planning on finishing them? same black carpet?

you should seriously hide those wires and clean that shit up dude. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

i LOVE console woofers. how does that sound?

I dont plan on changing the mats, if I do, hopefully I can just position it the same way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I plan of painting them black for a finish, but thats how I always say I'm gonna finish until it gets down to sanding, then I'm like f-it, lets do carpet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The sub sounds awesome, I have her crossed over a bit higher than usual since I dont have to worry as much with directional bass she helps me get some added kick to the lower midbass area, other than that its basically flat down to 25hz or so, great little woofer that kx is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif And I have room in my trunk for lots of stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

And the wires are only so bad because I ripped out the old pods and havent hidden them again, they'll get hidden when I install these.

Go to target often?
Just about every day, thats where I work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif, those reciepts are probably all $2 lunches and such, I have a bad habit of emptying my pockets onto my seats or floor when I get into my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

::Update::

Day 4

Well there goes my 3 day plan... I've had very little time to work on these...

Did some bondo and am on the last step witht he spot putty, these photos are between application and sanding so it isnt sanded smooth yet

Gettin there... will hopefully finish sanding tonight and prime either tonight or tomorrow, then paint, drill a breathing vent in the backs, and install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

**** dude, your not worried about that nicely exposed power wire there? YOu should at least run it under the carpet. What ever happened to the clean installs?
Worried? whats there to be worried about? I might get around to it, who knows, the rest of the install is clean, that is literally the only piece of wire that shows in the enitire (normal) install. The trunk has an plexi windowed amp rack with no wires showing, I think the blue it pretty anyways so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
