L7 true power handling

i'm going for two amps one for each L7. the L7s can handle more than the recommended 1000 watts rms so i was thinking about getting the 2ohm versions, then wiring them down to 1 ohm and hooking up a hifonics brutus bxi2200 to each of them

they are the same, they're suppose to be the same subs but the CVX's are round not squeare like the L7s. kicker put the technology of the square L7 in a round sub

L7s can handle alot of power IMO, my brother had a 1100a2 rockford pushing 1 12" L7 series 1, the old black one's dual 2 ohm in a custom cut virtual technologies box and that shit hit so **** hard for 2 year no problem before he went with a pair of 12" RF power dvc. So im sure a 15" can handle 1000rms easy

I had the older L7 "silver cone" and had it hooked up to a JL 500/1 in a 3.0 cube sealed box and had no problem getting the sub to full excursion on most songs. I could see sending one 1000 watts but anything over that is probably a waste unless you are doing burps @55hz in a spl contest.

With a highly clipped signal any sub can be blown with a quickness.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The fact of the matter is the new models can take some serious abuse, and anybody thats blowing them quickly doesnt know how to set gains.
clipped signals do not kill speakers.
