The 13 JL will keep up fine in power handling with the 12 L7

piston area is going to be the biggest equalization factor between the 2 (to say you don't care about it makes you an idiot. in most cases its the only real edge in SPL kicker has)

The 12" L7 is going to be very close to the 13w3v3 in output and the JL will have a slight edge in SQ (depending on install).  

they have close to the same power handling and almost the same piston area because the 12 gains area being square.

The JL will actually run much cheaper though.

I would chose an L7 any day over any JL sub, simply because of my experience with L7s and the power i know they can hold.

exactly....i know people feeding them 1500 daily and they take it like a champ....feed a W3 1000 real watts and see what happens

Its all opinion on what you want, and i have had L7s and not JLs, so its just me, and yeah personally i believe why compare subs, just try them out and see which one you like better.

Hey i was right! hahaha sorry (entertaining myself)

i've also got experience with both of them, and yes a system with ported 2 S12L7's and a system with 2 ported 13w3v3s sound very similar
