I have a friend that owns a 12" L5 I dont think it sounds bad,The L5 and L7 are basically the same speaker just different power ranges and what not right?i have heard people say the L7 has next to no sq,but I havent heard any sq comments about the L5. Can I expect the same sq out of a L7? Thanks for any help.

Edit: the L5 is ported in about a 2.5cuft box for comparasion

well people that state they have no SQ have obviously not ehard them installed for a SQ setup. Me, i have, and many others on the flip side love the sound of theirs...who knows.

But the L5 and L7 vary in many ways, but as far as sound wise, both will sound pretty much the same for the reccomended power range they need.

Now if you setup the system to sound good, it will, if you put it in the wrong enclosure, and wrong pwoer, etc, it won't.

L5's and L7's are more of a SPL sub than a SQ sub. not saying they sound bad ( I own two sb L7's and I'm pushing 2000 watts into them in a custom enclosure and hooked up to my home theater system in my house.

IMO if SQ is what you want you should go with something else.

look into StereoIntegrity and SoundSplinter subs for SQ and they get loud too!

there are a number of others that are great for sq too. Kicker is designed more for sheer loudness than sq though.
