L7 12" ported vs 15" sealed or something else?

What would be better for sql? or Daily driver SPL i guess. More spl then sq anyways.

The box would probably be tuned around 30-35 hz for the 12" ported.

how would that compare to a 15" l7 sealed?

both boxes would be ~ 2.2 ft^3

I never really hear much about l7's sealed. I don't know if its just because they aren't great sealed or what.

Also if l7's aren't good sealed what about a 15" cvx in the same box?

If their are any other

12"/15" type R ported/sealed

12" FI SSD ported (just over $200)

The reason i focused on the kickers was because i read they that they didn't need much power to get loud, and the CVX seemed to do very well on the "Big 12 challenge" at realm of excursion

I would probably power the sub with 1000 watts or less and its going to be a single sub setup and i want to make sure it will get loud off that much power. I was thinking of going with the hifonics 1206d for the amp (people have said its overrated but it should work well for what i want right?)

EDIT

also i dont know if it matters but the only sub ive personally owned was a 12" infinity perfect off 400w sealed. I'm hoping to get relatively louder with the setup above. Other subs ive heard would be some 2 10" audiobahns sealed with ~ 1100w (which didn't sound horrible but the perfect sounded much better) and 2 12's off of 600w (some circuitcity brand w/prefab box, i didnt look in the trunk to see what brand they were) which sounded downright horrible and didn't even get as loud as the infinity i had.

Thats about all the experience ive had with subs and im hoping to get something thats louder then the infinity i had, and sounds a little better than the audiobahns (which people say sound pretty bad but compared to the circuitcity ones they were outstanding)

dont put a L7 in a sealed box.... EVER.. They are built to move air... and thats about all they are built for... Also you need a bigger ported box then 2.2 cubes

Whats wrong with 2.2 cubes? The min recommended by kicker is 1.75, and 2.2 is almost 1/2 a ft^3 more...

im just giving my opinion... i had 1 12" L7 in a 2.75cubic ft ported box and it sounded great and was LOUD.. remeber you have a square sub which means your going to move more air than a round sub... the best thing to do would be to call an mtx tech and tell him your set up and he will give his suggestion....

also if you look at the specs on the website:

the the min sealed volume is 1.5ft and max is 6.0 ft...

the min ported volume is 3.0ft and max is 6.0 ft (which excludes port volume)

thats why i was saying go bigger otherwise your low end output will suffer if your box is too small..
