KX850.1 going into protect. Gayness

Okay, picked up a KX850.4 from a local guy a while back, and I must say its an amazing amp. Recently, however its been giving me trouble. Its going into protect for no apparent (to me) reason. Its running a set of Type-R components up front, and Rev series 6.5's in the rear. Gains are at about 20%, no bass boost, rear crossover at 100hz, front at 80hz, crossover on HU set at 80hz. Voltage is fine, running 12.6 with the car off, 13.something with the car on. Yellowtop under the hood, KnuKonceptz 0awg into a distro block where it splits into 4awg for my 850.4 and 4awg for my MRV-1507. Both amps are grounded at the same spot. It seems like its going into thermal protect. It would usually go for hours without shutting down. Its getting progressively worse, where now after about 20 mins it shuts down. No smoke, but it does smell a little.

Is the 850.4 known to have heat problems? I'm gonna take it apart soon to see if maybe the fan burned out, cause in louisiana, that fan is crucial lol.

Runnin it as a sub amp would be kinda pointless cause I wouldn't have a 4 channel for my components and rear fill. I'm not going back to HU power... ever.

Thats why i was asking, you said 850.1 a few times, and i was like why is he using it to run his comps

Yeah lol. I had just got done playing Rock Band... so my coordination was in drum mode not type mode.
