Korea's at it again...

That's really how they operate over there, though. Both Jung-Il and Jung-Un take no regard in any potential consequences while throwing out threats like nuclear war. I honestly think they're crazy enough to do it, it's just...I don't think they care. Luckily, the U.S. isn't exactly defenseless against something like this. Even though nothing may ever touchdown in the US, it's definitely a possibility if they were to ever launch anything, some serious stuff would start to go down.
Well said!

You're welcome guys, it's just something I saw years ago when I knew very little about North Korea and it shocked me. There's much better info out there, but I always think of that when I hear 'North Korea'. I would definitely not want to experience that environment. The Persian Gulf was weird enough for me.

While possibly true, that day is not today.
"Possibly" true? Not only is it inevitable if something doesn't alter the path North Korea is taking, it may already be here, whether you are capable of digesting that possibility or not.

Heya bud, good to see you.

I meant possibly towards your statement that we won't know when it happens. I believe we will be fully aware. And I can say for certain that they don't have the capability. I can't legally say how I know, and you don't have to believe me. But I'm not just blindly spouting words.

Regardless of whether they have the capabilities of nuclear attack or not, the U.S. just seems to take their threats with a grain of salt. The UN called the threats 'unhelpful and counterproductive'...it just doesn't seem like we're taking it seriously as we probably should. After all, we're talking about a potential global catastrophe, and North Korea - whether they're capable of it or not - obviously wants to make something happen.

Gotcha on the possibly thing. As for knowing they dont, Im not saying you cant really know, maybe you work for the CIA or fly a U2 or something, but everything Ive read about the situation indicates even the higher ups in our government dont really know what they are or are not capable of at this point. I mean, the problem is North Korea is trying to say they have it, while being very secretive about the details, so Im skeptical you know for sure. No offense meant, just sayin.

With the way obama is, and the financial crisis we are having and all the stupid *** **** that is clouding America’s headlines, what do we really know about North Korea? Who is really on "our Side", they could be just a decoy, to get us to look the other way. There seems to be alot of attention getters floating around in the news right now... When I think of WWIII, I think of "Red Dawn". They might just come walking in, and that is why we can’t let obama and the rest of those ***** take away our 2nd amendment. Bad enough the gov is gaining control of our SS, taxes, with this obama care bull ****. Yall should be fearful of what could and can happen in the very near future.

Their reactor that was used to produce plutonium was forced to be decommisioned by the UN in '94 I believe? Either way it is known (and has been for nearly 2 decades) that NK obtained enough plutonium to produce 6 nukes. While a fission bomb isnt as destructive or catastrophic as a fusion bomb (which the US had a stockpile of until Prez Va-ca took office and subsidized our stock... yea, thats a pretty good read!) it is still the exact same bomb that the US dropped on Hiroshima killing nearly 200,000 people.. and NK has 6

But as it has already been stated, they are not able (At this point in time) to fire a long distance missile.. Yes they are making great strides, and are not afraid to fire their failures into the sea towards america, but for the time being it is only a concern for the individuals relatively close to NK

I think the biggest threat to NK getting a nuke on to US soil is by sneaking it in (which the media seems to be completely ignoring at this point), not via an ICBM. I do agree that their missle deployment system does seem inadequate to concern the US mainland at this time (obviously), but we of course cant turn our backs on our allies in the region like SK or Japan either.

Good post Durango.
