The manual for my new Memphis MC5.1400 recommends 4 gauge wiring with a 200A inline fuse up front. When ordering the 4 gauge kit from the Knu website it says anything that requires more than a 150A fuse also requires larger than 4 gauge wiring. Any thoughts on this?

I dont know of a 4awg that will handle 200 amps for a long time. You could do 1/0 to a 4 awg block. Fuse the 1/0 at 300 amps

Fuse it at 300A instead of 200? Why is that?

Fuse for the cable not the amp. If the amp is going to blow its going to blow no matter what size fuse it has. 300 amps is less restrictive then 200
