im trying to get a 4gauge amp wiring kit from knukonceptz's site for my friend... but there eKo 4gauge kit is all sold out at the moment...

but a few items down on their product list they have almost an identical 4gauge wiring kit but it weighs almost 2pounds lighter

whats the difference between the

eKo Complete 4AWG Amp Kit and the KLM Complete 4 Gauge Amp Installation Kit

look at product #1 and product #4

people have a boner on knukonceptz wire cuz its more flexable....while it is flexible, and people say welding wire isnt, my welding wire is flexible enough for me....and alot cheaper...doesnt need to be that flexible IMO..

i actually went with the eKo a few months back and ive been very happy with it.. espeically for it's price.. heres the eKo i got back last month

but right now im trying to get a amp kit for my friend as well cause he just picked up a system today and i told him ill take care of looking for a nice amp kit

would the KLM 4gauge kit be alright?

or is there a major performance difference from the eKo kit?

lol alright i dunno wtf you guys are all talking about or how you guys even started to talk about wires getting corroded over time but the reason i made this thread is to ask you guys if the EKO and KLM amp kits performace the same.. would it be alright to just go ahead and get the KLM 4gauge kit for my friend's setup?

he's got a single 12" Type-R and a 500watt amp

Your answer is YES. The KLM and eKo while made out of different materials will perform the same. Without getting to deep. Copper is a better conductor. It also has skyrocketed in price.

Aluminum(AL) is not as good, however, if you have more Aluminum material then copper, you can achieve lower resistance with more AL. That is what we did, we made a cable that uses more material (Copper Clad Aluminum) to offset the resistance difference in materials. The AL is coated in OFC copper, so it reacts like any OFC copper cable. Had we never mentioned the material, most folks would have never realized the difference. We are up front about our products and yes, the cable is MUCH lighter, the 4 gauge kit weighs under 4 pounds due to the CCA (copper much heavier then CCA or AL - for instane KLM1/0 vs KOL1/0 same strand count about 1/2 the weight)

Welding cable - is usually a very low grade non oxygen free cable with a neoprene jacket. It reacts bad to water and if you live near the ocean (salt water) or where it snows (road salt) oxidation can set in quickly. Oxidation is the green/dark color forming on copper. Which leads to another problem with welding wire, the jacket is solid, you cant see if oxidation is occurring. The neoprene jacket can hold moisture while PVC (used on everything else) can not.

Believe me, we can make Welding Cable and when it turn colors, we'll have some very pissed off customers with huge voltage loss - and thats not good if your doing DB Drag

PS- the only change in the eKo to KLM kit is the power wire, all other parts are the same
