1 q. Do they use good quality copper? pure copper?
on their site doesnt say anything about it being pure copper.
What are you defining pure copper as? Copper is rated by a "N" purity value (number of nines) Any Kolossus series wire (Std or Fleks) is a 4N (99.99% copper) that has been tinned. Why do we tin copper - tinned copper will never oxidize. Tinned copper is marine grade, making it perfect for salty roads in the north and humid weather down south. You'll never have to replace the wire from oxidation.
Who else uses tinned copper? Stinger, Kicker, RF, Tsunami, PG, Memphis, JL, Lightning...etc..basically the companies that make quality stuff and rate the cable to the porper gauge are the same companies using tinned copper. So I guess that lumps us in the same boat of compaines that know what they are doing. We've been a manufacture for 8 years now, we have a pretty good idea of what we are doing when it comes to cable.
KLMX - folks check out the PAS Magazine reveiw ( I think it was OCT or NOV 08)
http://www.knukonceptz.com/assets/PDF/PASmagwiretest.pdf
20' of KLMX 4 Gauge vs 20' Of 1666 Strand 4 Gauge (same constructions as Stinger) at 100A there was a difference of 0.03V!!! THAT is why we make the KLMX cable. Half the cost of copper and for all intents and purposes, the same voltage at the amp. Power ratings in the test do not show the order in which the cables were tested as the impedance of the load changed the amps power dropped off. Voltage tells the real story. And I'll say it again- its not meant to replace the Kolossus, the Kolossus line is oversized. You can not compare the KLMX to Kolossus. Compare the KLMX to a Stinger or Tsunami cable.
Parts Express - um, the terminals are similar, but when you have to make the actual tool and some one makes a knock off, we still have to recoup the tool and CAD costs. Our design obviously is superior with the 1/0 and 4 gauge input. Obviously PE does not do any of their own homework. Have you seen the cost of their Ring Terminals? $9.95 a pair for 0 gauge!
Compression Fittings - Yes, they take longer to install, but the connection you get with these far excedes the strength any set screw will provide. The new KNI-11 Inline fuse holder is getting real good reviews from our clients and the Triple 1/0 KBT Battery terminals are one of our hottest items right now. All use the fittings.
For those set screw fans - we have something you may like coming later, I here all your moans when you post them and we have a new model under development that will satisfy our wants in a connector and your needs for easier installation.
