So I just purchased two bottles of cologne from Salamzone.com ...one of them was One Million by Paco Rabanna, the other was La Nuit by Yves Saint Laurent. The La Nuit was for one of my friends for his birthday. I paid $25 for the One Million, and $38 for the La Nuit.
Two and a half weeks later, they arrive. The One Million was pretty badly damaged from shipping, the La Nuit was not. I did not open the original box for the La Nuit since it was a gift. I immediately emailed them informing them of the damage that resulted from their poor packaging, and they were very nice in their response by telling me they could send me a free bottle or refund me the price on it. I told them I wanted them to send me another, they said they would ship it Sunday.
I just gave my buddy his cologne today, and when we opened it up, we were surprised to find that it didn't smell anything like my La Nuit that I bought a while back from Macy's. We then compared the bottles side-by-side, and here's the results...The real one is on the left, the knockoff is on the right
Differences: The knockoff has a taller bottle, it's 3.4oz, different color, different internal pick-up apparatus, different size cap that is also designed differently on the inside and the paint is glossier and the font is different, the sticker on the bottom says "Made in Prance" which is odd considering the box (which was sealed) says "Made in France", and as stated before it smells nothing like the original.
I think it's safe to assume that I have purchased a knockoff. Oddly enough, the One Million smells like the original, but I'll compare it to my buddy's tomorrow.
The question is, what should I do about this? They are not a bbb accredited business, so that's not an option. I could smash the cap of the La Nuit and say that it was damaged as well, and ask for them to refund both of them since they said they would have refunded the One Million because of the shipping. Do I have any other options?
