hi guys. i know a lot of people run the Optimas but i heard nothin but great things about the Kinetiks. a few questions if i may:

1. which would you prefer and why?

2. price is not an issue coz they are almost equal, yet space is. the kinetik is slimmer but not sure on the height. in this pic, the Kinetik has strange looking terminal posts.

can i put regular pos./neg. terminals onto the Kinetik top posts?

3. are the Optimas 750-850 CCA compared to the Kinetiks 1400CCA ? if so, thats i big difference

thx

I do know that my HC1400 was quite a bit taller than the Optima red top I previously had in my truck. It was too the point that I could barely latch my hood with the battery in the factory location. Switching from the Optima to the Kinetik killed what little bit of dimming I had. Not the same comparison, but thought Id share //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

#3 is wrong somewhere along the line.
i also hear that the hc1800 was more comparable to the d34.
well, i got the Optima spec on their site and i assume 1400 in the Kinetik model mean 1400CCA, but of course, not sure. anyone verify?

how old was the redtop?

It was about 6 months old or so at the time. I already had a 240 amp alt and big 3 in 1/0, the kinetik just helped out with what little voltage drop I was having. I still have the red top and it rests at 12.6ish, so from my experience the Kinetik was the better battery.

i have the hc1400 running my jeep's engine / electrial system and I hate the top posts. They occasionally come loose on me, and I probably tighten them up every month. But I had to mount my HC1400 sideways in my jeep since it was waaay too tall to fit under the hood - which is why there is slightly more strain on the cables which probably doesnt help with the automatic loosening situation on the top posts. Now ive tried a ton of batteries in the last few years, and I really didnt find any difference between my Optima, my AlphaCell, or my HC1400....other than the Optima having way better connections solutions on it.

take that for what its worth I guess.

Do you think a Yellotop would be just as good as a HC2000 or 2400?
