I had a sealed 12 CVX on 750.1 Autotek SS and it did pretty good. Did 138.2 on TL and rock was decent, but rap seem to sound better in it. I am in same situation right now where rock is decent and Rap is too much for me to listen to at loud volumes, lol! Running 2 Premier 400rms subs and it is loud!

I would personally go with a different sub as I tried everything with my CVX to help the rock to sound better as that is what I usually listen to as well.

My FI Q sounded really good on rock in the same box I had my CVX, but had way to many problems with it.

I want to try a new SI Mag and see what all the hype about that sub is. Looks nice for sure and a huge space saver!

But, the cheapest route is building a sealed box to try and see if you like it that way first.

I built a 3 cubed sealed box and didnt like it. Wasnt loud at all but that was 3 cubes..

You think 2 would be better?

Reverse the pos and neg terminals on the speaker. Or if your sub amp has a phase shift, change it to 180.

You know phase reversal is a standard part of a subwoofer installation right? That's wjhy so many sub amps offer a phase reverse switch built right in. I highly recommend you try this simple step before you start building a whole new box. There is no reason a vented enclosure setup should not be able to handle rock well, just because its a vented setup.
Have we determined you aren't actually looking to upgrade your midbass setup, and are making the common mistake of thinking the subs are suppose to produce the midbass? What is your LP filter set to?

i can't believe no one jumped on this yet....he doesn't know whether his sub is DVC 4 or 2 but he knows its running at 2.

If you knew about ohms you would know there is no way its a DVC 2ohm...its not possible, so i would say you might want to find out what coils the sub has and also what config. its wired at.

never ever use a prefab box for any subwoofer, it will never sound right every sub needs a custom box built for it.

Build a ported box that is designed for that sub!

You will not get as much output out of a sealed box unless you just like the sound of sealed enclosures, which if you build a ported box right you can get the same response just more output. But do what you want just do not run the sub in that prefab box anymore. And your sub is Dual 4 is you are running it at a 2 ohm load.

Dual 4 does 2 or 8, dual 2 does 1 or 4 correct?

Yeah I have a Dual 4.

I believe my amp does have the subsonic filter but not a phase thing.

Back about 6 months ago I built a sealed box, but it sounded like ***. I didnt realize that they should be smaller than 3.75 cubic feet if sealed so that explains the *** sound. I just shortened and resealed that box, and its now drying. Tomorrow I will give it a shot, its 2.24 Cubic Feet now.

I honestly think I just like the sound of sealed, so well see.

I dont plan on upgrading midbass and I fully understand what the subs made to do and not to do, I am not looking for midbass, im just looking for what my old Kicker CVR 12" that was in a sealed box did.

Ill have an update tomorrow late afternoon after I give this new box a shot.

So I drove around with this thing today with the sealed box at 2.2 cubes.

WOW IT OWNS.

I cant believe this is the same sub. I also put it at 80hz vs 63 for the LPF.

This is amazing, its hitting notes that it was just baby hitting with the ported box.
