I've followed the UFC since the first, when most people didn't even know about it. I'm not saying Kimbo would be heavyweight champ right now, I'm just saying he throws down like Mike Tyson, and any striker stands a chance of getting knocked out. Just like St. Pierre got knocked the **** out vs Matt Serra. In a fight, any split moment determines the winner. Even the best can get beat in that split moment. And when you got a heavy hitter like Serra or Kimbo or whoever, they stand a chance on the feet, no matter how good a striker that person is.
The only for sure way to dominate a Kimbo type, every time, would be a black belt quality jui-jitsu. And Ray Mercer might have been out of his prime, but he was still an olympic gold medalist boxer and WBO heavyweight champion. Oh btw, Kimbo won this fight with a guillotine choke!!

And you noticed he didn't stand and trade with Ray Mercer for long. What we know is he beat a 50 year old boxer, his second fight Bo Cantrell took a dive, and the biggest name on his resume has won one fight in 10 years (and every loss was in the first round). I guarantee if they matched him with the two HW's (Bigfoot & Rico) that were on the undercard they'd mop the floor with him. Gary Shaw has a lot of people buying the hype, I'll give him that.

Kimbo vs. Tim Sylvia would prove nothing. Sylvia only shows up for half of his fights. Inside of a year Kimbo will either be the new Tank Abbott or show he can bang and roll. I really think the path he is on right now with Elite xc will allow him to come into his own fighting so so's and has beens. It wont be long before he will be called out and accused of fighting lesser fighters and he will fall into fighting someone that will expose his weaknesses. Kimbo and Fedor would be enough for Couture to hang himself.

I really want to see him challenged. Yeah he is a good street fighter and can beat retired fighters, but i think people sweat his nuts too much. Let him fight someone worth a **** and then lets see if he is good. I can't wait to see how he stands up to real competition. I am a kimbo fan but he is not top notch yet, but hopefully his future bouts get better so he can prove himself.

kimbo is a monster...thats obvious...

but...

he really hasn't faced an opponent with nearly the same if not BETTER training...and nobody really is in his ball park due to his size and weight..

there are DOZENS of martial arts experts that would **** kimbo the **** up, easily.

I'm just saying, he stands a chance at knocking out any striker, and he's getting good fast. He's getting good and will be a contender, watch and see.

I guess so. Elite has a handful of heavyweights. He's the third best they currently have (that's if Rico has a multi fight deal). We'll see if Elite wants to make him legit and sign some real competition for him. I guess Ken Shamrock is a decent start, but his record lately is almost as bad as Tank's.

It kind of goes without saying the he stands a chance of knocking someone out. Especially when they fight with 4 oz gloves and he's a heavyweight.

Some of you guys have no grip on reality if you think he's in Tim Sylvia's league.

Not yet. He said it's Ken Shamrock provided he wins his next fight. I know there are have several rumors as far as a rematch with Gannon. And several people have called him out including former UFC fighter Paul Buentello, and Butterbean. If they want to make him legit that excludes 2 out of 4 of those guys in the Bean and Gannon. Although I think if they stand the Bean and Kimbo could be interesting, although he'd have to cut off both legs and arms to get to the HW limit of 265.
