Actually doesn't hurt coming out the ****, it hurts in the ureter between the kidney and bladder,
Depends on the size and shape, One of mine was like a triangle shaped, sharp edges and hurt from my back to the toilet

my dad gets em all the time. however, i don't think its family related... its what he gets for drinking mostly nothing but alcohol, no water, and doing physical labor (sweating)

Yea, mine must be relatively small as it hasn't been ll that bad ever. My little brother had one, he rolled on the ground in pain and was puking from it.

what are the symptoms?

imagine the worst pain you have ever had, triple it, and make it constant.. I had onee once, the NURSE said it is worse than labor.. I felt more like a man LOL. They hooked me up to IV when I got there, blew out a vein in my arm then went to the other.. Pumped in some Delauted (spelled wrong, but there arent too many stronger drugs) and within 5 seconds of getting the shot, I was high for the first time in my life LOL They gave me Vicodins and they didnt do a thing for me.. Not even take the edge off..

I did have a scope of my kidney once. They left in a stent to keep the ureter from swelling shut, the stent must have been touching my kidney wall or something, worst pain of my life, 4 or 5 days with a total of maybe 2 hours of sleep and the max dosage of vicodin didn't even dull the pain.

I had a Co Worker that had them and to control his he drank plenty of water and acid based liquids such as Country Time Lemonade to help shrink them at least.

Kidney stones = bad times.

You wouldn't believe some of the kidney stones I've seen come out of people, especially the ones that people pass on their own.. f*cking boulders I tell you..

There is stuff that I am not supposed to eat or drink, but I don't care, they have never bothered me enough to not enjoy the stuff I like.

Dad had one and he could barely stand, was sweating all over. Then he got to the doctors and they gave him morphine and he was flying. Was pretty funny once he got the drugs in him and they said what it was.

Anyone here ever get them? I am only 22 and have had at least 5. So anyone else ever have the displeasure of a renal calculi?

yeah i get them frequently and work in the medical field, hopefully they are small enough to pass on their own

feels like someone sticks a knife in u and twists and twists and twists until it passes, usually bad sign if symptoms include fever(usually means u obtained a secondary kidney infection from it so u will likely be getting a dose of levaquin (antibiotics)

very bad sign if u have gross hematuria(visible blood in the urine) usually microscopic hematuria occurs

it can be genetic or dietary there are different kinds of calculus that form

i higly recommend u filter them when u urinate and give them to a urologist to analyze what kind of stones they are

Do u take any supplements or have a deficency with absorbing calcium can be a cause as well good luck

if u get one look at it under a microscope serated edges very sharp, it usually only hurts when in the ureter worse part is transferring from the kidney into the ureter at that junction and the uv junction at the bladder wher the ureter is usually the smallest diameter worst pain i have felt in my life
