Sony amps are more or less pieces of crap.

The Kicker ought to put out just as much power and be a more reliable amp.

Sony amps are junk, specifically marketed to people who pay attention to the big number plastered across the front of the box than anything else even though the word 'peak' is right there in tiny print. Sure sign of an amp that probably won't even match its continuous rating.

I'm not sure of the actual RMS power of that sony, but it wouldn't be much, if any, more than the kicker, definitely not enough to go with it over the kicker given the quality difference.

You'd need 700 or 800w to hear an obvious improvement.

Kicker sets the standard for power. Kickers amps put out more power for the money than any other amps out there. That 400x1 will put out 500 rms watts easily without even getting warm. I can't even make my kicker amp get warm and I play the **** out of it.

while kicker makes solid amps... i didnt know they set the "standard" and you can find amps that make more power for cheaper...

They set the standard for being underrated for the quailty build of the amp and the price you pay for them. There are plenty of cheap *** brands out there that put out more power for less money but there not built of the same quality as a kicker. Bottom line you can't beat kicker for the money. Hell you can buy a 750x1 on the internet for 200 bucks. Try to buy a JL 500x1 for that price good luck.
