Kicker vs. Diamond Audio

I've come down to two choices for subs. I' looking at either 2 12" Kicker CVR's or 2 Diamond Audio D3's. Both take 400w rms, so power is not an issue. I know the kicker's are mainly spl subs but i dont know much about the diamonds. I'd ultimitely like to know which is a better buy, both are within my price range ($200 on ebay). Also, is there another sub out there within this price range that woulbe better suit me? I'm looking for a good mix of sq and spl. Thanks....

I've had two of the cvr 12s and they sounded pretty good, just make sure there in the right box, hit some killer lows.

I believe Diamond tends to lean towards the SQ side. I haven't heard D3's though.

I don't understand why people love the cvr's. They sound like crap to me. They overloead so quickly & look so cheap. I've never heard the diamond d3, but I would put my money on the d3's for sure - just my opinion though.

I think you get alot more quality of a woofer in a D3 vs a CVR

regarless of how loud it gets

i personally really like the sound of the cvr's, never heard the d3's, but some guy just got a pioneer 2005spl i think and he cant stop talkin about it, maybe he will chime in.

They are obviously not high-end subs or the best in Kickker's line by any means however there is no deniying that they are great sounding subs that have the capability of getting loud for a very cheap price. I have not heard tha d3's yet but i have had some experience with diamond audio in the past and will say that they tend to be more SQ, having said that the Cvr's offer sq and get loud for a very affordable price. How much do the d3's cost?

I've heard the CVRs before and I did not like it at all....never heard the diamond D3 before but people do say some good stuff about the diamond subs....I would go with the D3 no doubt!

My cousin has 2 d3 12's in a ported box and he hit 144.5 db @ 46 hz

CVRs sound good to me IMO. Im a SPL guy. I would get two 12"s CVRs and put them in a ported box tuned to 30hz,32hz.

D3 > CVR. D3's have awesome SQ and 2 12's whether sealed or ported should get loud enough for a nice daily driver. While they might not be AS loud as two CVR's, they'll be close and have much better sound quality. D3's are about the same price too.
