Kicker subs and hifonics amp

okay so my buddy said that my amp can be turn on all the way and wont break my subs. I have 2 12' kicker cvx 750rms each dual 4 and a 1700rms hifoics amp. I have each sub wire down to 2ohm which on the amp is 1300rms but i have it turn lil more than half because thats about 750. I am right or is he by saying it can handle up to 1300rms but it should be turned all the way up?

dont turn the amp gain all the way or you going to clip the hell out those subs

then gain knob does not work like that for how much power it puts out

at 1/4 of the way you coud be giving them max power in some cases.

Id suggest you read up on how to set the gain

if you have a dmm, set the amp gain to 1500 rms using the dmm. this ways is still not %100 accurate but is alot better then cranking the gain until you see smoke

save this for future use on other amps. there is a tutorial and a calc in this link.

so with said wire you subs to 1ohm, and use a dmm and set amp gain to 38.7(1500rms @ 1ohm) with the "AC" option on the dmm... you should be set
