I will start this with an opinion and you all can add. I think overall Kicker has succesfully accomplished its goal as a company to make a product that sells like crazy. I have heard different Kicker subs and yes i do think they are pretty decent spl subs for the price. I hear alot of people say the voice coild burn too easily but i think this is contributed to by two reasons. One is the design and two the consumers. This product is sold at many reatail stores places pople go who have no idea what they are buying but hey its loud right. These people tend to torture subwoofer. And yes some say these subs are designed so that even with enough power to be in thermal danger you may not hear any warnings but def. smell it. If you treat this subwoofer right and know how to set a gain properly you shouldnt have trouble with the voice coil burning up. The SQ is decent except for small minute noises that are produced and barely audible. Most people put subs in the trunks of cars which in my opinion will take away some sq to begin with. With a sub being this far from your ear SQ is a little harder to determine so if you have this sub in a trunk you shoulndt notice anything except loud bass. In my opinion there is enough sound quality if your sub will hit a decent range of notes with no obvious abstract noises which is what this sub will do. In a ported box of course you lose the quickness of the subwoofer and it seems to lag on fast beats.

Personally i wouldnt buy a Kicker they seem to be a hot topic here. If u noticed i own an infinty not Kicker never have owned a Kicker. Just tryin to give some people somthing to write about.

kicker and audiobahn produce the best products for your money! if you want better you gunna find a deeper whole in your wallet. jl audio is the most known and respected name in car audio and if you got money to throw down on audio products then go for jl if you want a loud system with a good appearance supply a good source of power to them and you cant be upset with your setup. put the kicker l7 or l5 in a ported box with a kicker amp putting suffient amount of power to it and you will beat a block down and it should sound very good! placing it in a trunk makes it sound very loud and good in my situation so i believe kicker has met its goal and i also believe they have helped me achieve mine!

I would disagree that JL is the most "respected" name in car audio, though they probably are one of the most well known. It seems like you two just have experience with what is sold in local shops and chain stores...

i wouldnt say audiobahn is the best for ur money, but they can get loud, compared with some of the subs in there price range..

MY brother hit 132 with 2 oldstyle alum 12 in a sealed box with a bostwick(sp)amp i dont remever exactly but i think it was around 1000rms watts
