Kicker l7s

I just ordered 2 '06 kickers 12' l7s. My last system consisted of 3 audiobahn 121t's (2.5 cubes each 38 hz) driven by a (seeing 1.3 ohms) 2300hct. The audiobahns were loud but didnt sound the greatest leaving me with the desire to buy something new that would sound better, and go lower. With the same amp( seeing 1ohm), what to you think i should expect of the l7's. Will they be cleaner, louder? I dont really expect them to be louder, but ive never had kickers before, so i dont really know what to expect. I would also like some box size/tuning recomendations. The vehicle is a 99 explorer, so size isnt too big an issue.

I would do some thing like:

2.5 cubic ft (each chamber)

Ported (obviously) tuned to 32hz

Why not get two 15" L7s instead of two 12" if that amp can dp 2300rms @ 1ohm?

I would have done:

Two 15" L7s (DVC 4, to run @ 1ohm)

4.0 cubic ft (per chamber) tuned to 33hz

i only had enough to get the 12's plus tend the favor 12's in general. what do you think my volume will do in comparison. Also, i actually have 2 of the amps but i think theyre 1200 watts at 2 ohms.. From what i hear from the forums, this amp wont push that full amount anyway

yea they will more then likely kill those audiobahns in spl and sq those amps will push them subs good. I would get 3-3.5 cu net each tuned to 32, that will staight kill.

Not really. If he uses a smaller amp (which I think he will considering they are 750rms each) then he may even have less SPL. He doesn't seem to want more SPL rather more SQ.

yeah , I like my bass loud but w/ a little sq as well. maybe a 60/40 split?

L7's aren't known for sound quality, but i would probably be correct in assuming that the would sound better than the audiodubs

Honda's aren't known to be fast, can you make them fast, you bet.

Install and L7 for SQ, and you get great SQ, install it ported for max bass, that's what you get...

Poster: for max SPL, do per driver

He stated in the post before mine that if he had each l7 sub running off 1200rms how will they be well 1200rms on a 12" l7 like I said will straight pound the hell out of them I have only heard a couple of audiobahn setups but my freind had 2 12" 1208 flame compression top of the line of audiobahn subs, started to fall apart literly after 3 weeks replaced them with 2 12" l7's the 05 models and it has beat the audiobahns in ever aspect. Polecat has said the 05 l7's are bascially 06 l5's so in that since 06 l7's should have a lot better sq and output, so to make it short my vote still stands that 2 12" 06 l7s should kill the 3 audiobahns in output and sq and with all that power I say you step up to 15"s but thats just me. OOO yea keep one amp and sell the other 1 will be plenty for either 2 subs
