kicker L7-vs-Premier 3002

l7s do not like sealed boxes at all. If you plan on going sealed get the cvx. btw search around the forum a bit, this is a subject that is discused daily.

gotta disagree. L7s are acually very decent in sealed. they just preform better in ported applications.

cvx's are still much better suited for sealed applications, and I will still stand by the statement that l7s do not like ported boxes. Never said they couldnt sound good in them though.

ive personally never owned an L7, but i had a 3002SPL for around 6months, and i LOVED it. it was one of my favorite subs, the low's hit with authority, and it had great SQ for what it was. theres a review that i posted in the review section for it.

now that im semi limited on space in my new truck, im thinking on going with the 10" spl's.

mine took 800 daily

i had a 400 watt peak / 100 rms free-air type 12" pioneer i recieved free from walmart, got it back in 98 and i finally blew it in 2004 with my rockford bd1500... took about 2 hours abuse from that punch amp before it gave... dam thing excurted so much it dam near ripped itself apart...

L7's would be louder but L7 are like females always BLOW easy lol......primiers would be more dependable.

There is a lot of negative rep about the L7 floating around the interweb. Much of it is false or unfounded. Honestly the L7 is a very competent subwoofer. Yes it does get very loud ported. But Kicker has won numerous SQ competitons with L7s and even a SoloX. Yes a lot of people have L7's, and yes there are some pictures of blown L7's out there, but most are from user error or an exorbant amount of power. A sealed L7 is a good combination of decent SQ and output. I have played with the 8L7 on numerous occasions, and it is one of my favorite 8's of all time. That thing dominates the Crazy 8s, or at least it did the last time I was at a comp. No, I have not played with the CVX, but I have history with round Solo's and I hate myself for not still having one. That is a driver Kicker did an outstanding job on. When Tracey says the CVX is the modern equivalent of the round solo, then I trust him. So I think the best bet would be try the CVX sealed.

Very nicely said...now I don't have to quote 4 different people.

They sound good sealed, they don't blow easily if you know what you are doing, and the sound quality is not poor by any stretch
