Kicker L7 question

For those who are using a L7 , do you have a port box or sealed?

I bought mines sealed and I was wondering if port would make a differnce?

Im shopping around for a Class D amp , currently I found out the RF 800.2 amp isnt cutting it.

Its in a 6th gen 2006 Nissan Maxima.

I stumble onto this site today so I figure I'll ask you audio experts since im more of a grease monkey and boosted/turbo guy.

My current setup is decent but again im shopping for a class D amp and maybe improve my setup.

any pros or cons with a sealed box or ported box ?

From what i have heard on here a ported box is gonna raise the db levels a bit but not enough prolly for you to notice. If your not gonna enter any comps or anything i wouldnt worry about. But to each there own

hmm so should I get a new box thats ported already or maybe just port the one I have now ? I have no idea on the specs of the box but it was custom built.

As for db levels , I really couldnt tell you if thats a good thing or bad. I just wanted a little more bass than I have now. ( I guess the amp is the next upgrade )

usualy it adds like 3-6 dbs i think and every 3dbs is twice the loudness sensaition you are hoping for...

im no expert.. but im just tossing in my 2 pennys cause i know the ppl higher up are like eww.. wtf its a noob

the sealed box probly isnt big enough to make a ported on that sounds good

and since your more of a wrencher.. i dont think you know how to do all the complicated things in porting

but usualy prefab ported boxes sound like crap anyways lol

I'd say L7s prefer to be ported from everything I've heard... I ran my 12" in 1.1cuft, 1.8 cuft, and 2.2cuft and none of those sounded particularly great compared to the ported L7s I've heard

hush, The L7 would perform much better in a ported box. Output is really all in the

box itself. I'm sure someone here can build you a good performing box, stray from

the prefab stuff you see floating around as well.

I never said any1 couldnt, but if hes willing to pay for a box then so be it, i clearly stated since hes a wrencher it prolly wont make that much diffrence to him

A properly built ported enclosure will be significantly louder to the ear at frequencies at or near tuning.
