Kicker l7 enclosure

I have built and installed many square subs form L5s to soloXs. I have never been impressed with their ability to do much other then be in a fart box, so you are correct. However, the OP will not be happy with an enclosure tuned that high.
L7s liked the 40's, so do my Solo Xs, but they will absolutely murder 28hz too. It's all in the box. X box is built to beat your brains in and it does just that, it won't put up a number.

You just contradicted yourself. If your tuning that high with an enclosure your roll off will be crazy at lower hz levels. If you go to a very large enclosure and then tune down in to the 30s yes an L7 will drop low..but at the cost of a ton of space.

This is just a daily driver so I wasn't wanting to spend much more than 300 right now
One sub or Two sub setup?

Also, what kind of power do you have to work with? Sorry, I'm sure you mentioned it, but I really don't remember and I'm to lazy to reread the thread lol.

If I get a 15 I would go single for now. I may go with a second over time. If it would be better to go with multiple smaller subs for playing hardcore rock(lots of drops) and dubstep I will go with that setup. Once again I have a sundown saz-2000d. I'm a noob at box building so I might need some explaining.

okay so i was going to sell this but i decided to see how a new box will improve this sub. It is an 08 12" kicker l7 running on a Sundown Saz-2000D
So far i have an idea of the size of box i want to build. I want something that will fill out the space between my wheel wells in my wagon. 38~39 inches is the distance between the wells. So a box with the dimensions 38X16X12 is what i came up with. I think having the speaker facing the ceiling and the port facing the rear of the car works best for my application.

I am using the specs from kickers manual for the port size. 13.25X3 and 14 inches deep.

Will all of this make a box worth building?

Thanks for the Help!
The shipping box is great , put it back in there and list it on ebay. LOL

A single 15 or a dual 12 setup would be ideal. I would think you would be a bit more happy with your setup with 2 12s on that power though. It may cost a bit extra though. Also, for the enclosure, purchase a design from RAM_Designs.

Do you recommend any brand or should I keep it all sundown?

the SA12 is a great sub, but i'm not how well it would actually hold up with 1500-2k rms daily. If you are easy on the gain I would do it. Smaller enclosure as well as they like about 1.75 per driver for porting. The will set you back around $400ish though. If you build the enclosure yourself with a design from RAM you will save a good deal of funds though. If your not sure on the enclosure building, I can toss a quote your way for a dual 12 setup.

so, you are no longer curious to see just what the l7 can do in a different box? you could build a box, and add the cost of materials to the price and sell it on cl, if that was your plan. people aren't really keen on paying the 2-400 that some seem to thing the box is worth, but many of the general public would rather not try to build one. just a though. then you can go ahead and get new drivers, and may give you some time to save more for what you really want... $.02

I am still interested in building a box but im pretty lost and this sub isn't going to sell so right now building one is really my only option.
