I have to agree, type Rs are one of the more fragile subs coil wise that i've came across.

And I never had a problem with the 10+ type rs I've had over the years.

All I've done is drop a pulley size and add a colder thermostat did plugs and a down pipe fuckerrr doesn't play nicely

dont go withe the type Rs, loved them while i had them but the coils only lasted 3 months and "poof" theyre gone
I ran two type R's for 4 years and then sold them, never had a problem with them and ran them in 3 different box setups with quite a bit of power to them. Dunno what happened to your's, but mine were flawless.

I beat the hell out of my two type-r's. Would got hot every once in a while but I cracked the dish/cone before the coil fried. This was the swr12d2. I think this model was probably the sturdiest of em, though. They are good sub's.
