I eventually want 5000 watts though. By eventually, I mean I want to run my 18" Solo X on 2500 watts for now as money is kinda tight, and when I do have the money, I wanted to see if I could purchase another. Running it on anything less than 2500 watts at the moment I don't think would be a good idea.

whats the VC config on your sub? just run a 2500.1 on each coil.

No Kicker ZX amps are strappable except the SX1250.1 and possibly the sx650.1. I know for a fact the 1250 is though. And the ZXs are not a fan of 1 ohm. Check out the new soundstream XXX 6500D...it seems anything is good when there is the XXX in its name..re audio XXX...hot blonds XXX etc

the zx1000 and zx1500.1 aren't strappable out of the box, but you can strap them if you know how(do a little research). Also you don't have to strap them anyways, just run one to each solo x.

You strap two 1000s together and thats only 2000rms, you strap two 1500s and thats only 3K. Why not just run the 2500 at 1 ohm with a fan on it and be done with it...a lot cheaper and more reliable.

true, if you had the dual 1 spair, run one to each coil, or get two ZX1500's to each, if you have good electrical, i know a Zx1500 can go down to .7 and do stupid power...while not factory direct strappable, the Zx1000/ZX1500 can be, but not the ZX2500.

actually, in our testing, you get about 6000 off two ZX1500, it's not just double rated power.

Yes at less than 2 ohms I am sure, but I was talking about factory ratings 1500s @ 2 ohms versus the 2500 @ 2 ohms. According to the local kicker rep, he said they are still 1 ohm stable, they just rated them at 2 ohms because people figure if it is 1 ohm stable then 1/2 ohm is close enough. Basically they were just trying to increase their reliability and efficiency for 2 ohm operation.

Polecat...any idea about the KX series being strappable or modded to strappable operation?

KX12001, SX1250 are all factory strappable. When strapping, it will change the desired impedence.
