Kicker CVX vs. L7 vs. L5

I have a 800W+ amp (more at 2ohms), and 2ft^3 @ 35Hz to work with, but I can build a new box if I need to tune lower.

What would be the best: CVX, L7, L5 ?

I'm coming from dual Assassin 12's to a single sub setup, and I'd like to keep similar output and hopefully not lose too much SQ, but I'd also like to keep costs down.

I'm also considering Type R (cheap), AA Arsenal, or Fi Audio SSD.

Any opinions? The upper level of my budget is $200 shipped, firm.

Thanks for all opinions.

do the CVX's have better sound quality than the L7's?

are the L7's louder?

will either of them sound ok/get loud in a 2ft^3 (ported) box? (that is the main thing holding me back on the L7's)

From the installs I've heard, not any noticable difference.

Theoretically, the L7 would move more air due to the square shape which results in a slightly larger Sd but I, personally, can not hear a discernable difference. Both aren't really SQL oriented subs. Not saying that they can't be successfully applied to such a setup, but they are quite capable drivers in an SPL setup.

L5/7s like big boxes FYI, so if your going with those, might as well go with another 15. Why not wait a month until the 12 inch woofer test is done?
another 15" ? no 15 is going or has even gone in my trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif not quite enough room.

how big do L7's need? is 2ft^3 @ 32Hz way too small?

the assassins are going to be sent off for the 12's test, so i'll probably see what lloyd thinks would be a good step up for me, after he gets done testing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

L5/7s love 3 cubes or more (My L5 was in 2.8 cubes), I was just saying you might as well go with a higher quality 15 if you want the L7, since they would probably take the same amount of space..

Judging by the looks of that box in your avatar you should be able to fit 1 15 easy enough....How big is that box?
He wants to save space though, so for the sake of space, exclude the solobarics and 15s from his decision //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Like I said, wait until Loyd finishes the test, and youll have a good comparison to work with...

yep, no 15's for me. need to save space, so no huge boxes.

also, if i want to slide the box all the way up against the backs of my rear seats i need to have a box that is 14" tall (unless i stray from the normal rectangular cube box shape, which i have no plans to do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif).

to ME, the square solobarics are not very SQ, if that is what your looking for. My old cerwin vega vega series sounded so much "softer/smoother", but that's just my opinion.
