Kicker Amps

I currently have two kicker cvx 12" dual 4 ohm subs and now I'm looking for an amp. I wanna stay with kicker, but I have a couple questions.

at first I was going to buy two kicker zx 750.1 amps, but i was wondering, can i just buy a kicker zx 1500.1 amp and wire both subs? Will the sound quality hurt if i wire both subs to a mono amp like the zx 1500.1 or should I just go with 2x zx750.1 amps?

I guess to put it bluntly, will a kicker zx1500.1 amp sound power and provide good enough power to the two kicker cvx subs? each sub is rated for 700rms, the zx1500.1 is 1500w rms, will it split the power outage to both amps evenly?

Thanks

you can do either. but the two 750.1's will give you a little more power. however it is easier to get the one amp and set the gains on it rather than setting the gains the same on two different amps.

well the price difference is very close, i can get two zx750.1's for $400+ s/h, but then i'm risking of over powering the subs....from what i gather, some of the kicker amps put out more output than rated...so wouldn't i be providing each sub a different amount of power?

if the birthsheet of the zx1500.1 shows just for example, a power output of lets say 1600w-1700w rms, divided by 2, 800rms to each sub...i really don't want to over power them...they're going on my weekend car...

i figured it'd be easier to get the 1500.1 and powering both subs @ 2ohms...i don't know what is your take on this? i'm buying the amp after xmas so i'd like to clear this matter up asap

you can't run two dvc 4ohm subs at 2ohm so you can forget the 1500.1. the 750.1 are perfect for it, the shop near me suggests that amp for the cvx. and you will be getting about 900wrms+ from each amp to. nothing wrong with a little more power. just make sure you set the gains correctly.

and what kind of electrical system you have in your car?

well if i were to return the 4ohm cvx's for the 2ohm versions, would that be better suited for the zx1500.1? i want to run the subs @ 2ohms considering the zx1500.1 is 2ohm stable @ 1500w rms..

they're going in a stock 2007 scion tc, factory electrical system, with either an alpine IVA-W200 or a pioneer AVH-P6800DVD

this is my second sound system i've put together and i'd like to get the most efficient wiring and sound...so i am really confused as to which route i should go...did i make a mistake by buying the 4ohm version cvx's?

yeah return them for the dvc 2ohm versions if getting that amp. and i'd upgrade the charging system before getting that amp, it'll draw some current.

I'd like to the stock electrical system besides better speaker wire and power cable / ground cable.

Will it hurt my stock alt any ?

depends on the size of your stock alt. i think i saw before those cars are 100a stock, could be wrong. and that amp at peak will draw about 150a, maybe more.

Id go with the kicker 1500.1...you will be fine running below 2 ohms, plus the amp will never see that after rise anyways. And the CVXs will be fine with that power.

It should draw the same current approximately as 2 750.1's ??!?!?

... speaking from experience with Kicker amps I would not reccomend running a 1-ohm nominal impedance on an amp with a lowest rated impedance of 2-ohms. It will go into protection/turn off/heat up/leave you dissappointed in general.

Basically if you want to stick with Kicker amps, do a KX1200.1, or 2 ZX750.1's if you are unable to exhange the subs for the dual 2-ohm version. If you can't get dual 2-ohm subs then you won't be able to run the ZX1500.1
