kicker 600.1 struggling to power on...?

just got off the phone with kicker.

the tech I spoke with thinks my remote line is goin out. He had me disconnect the remote and run the hot line to the remote. this worked, but I think only because I had been driving my car recently...

i guess i will try his suggestion when my car has been sitting for a bit, but why would a remote line go bad then all of a sudden supply power?

possible... worst case u can run the remote like w/ a relay to boost voltage... make your relay take the input from your remote line from pioneer deck, then boost voltage to amp... possibility

ok.

Just woke up and went to check my system out. Plugged everything in like normal and checked it out. Amp struggled to turn on. Turned car off and disconnected remote line. Car back on, tried to turn amp on directly with hot 12v line (wire from 12v to remote like the kicker dood said), same problem. Checked power from hot to ground DC current, 12 volts. Checked power from remote to ground DC, 12 volts. Voltages stay constant while power is flickering on and off.

I was told earlier on the thread to check my ground connection. I still have not done that, as my tool situtation is not up to snuff, and getting my seat off will be difficult at this point. Checking the voltage through the hot line to ground line (from the amp connect points) should tell me if the ground is ok though, right? If it isnt properly grounded, voltage would fall down and jump up? right?

Kicker said they would fix it for 60-70 bucks 90 day warranty.

KB audio has a flat rate of 75 bucks 90 day warranty. 6 month warranty is +20$.

I am gonna call KB and see what they say

any suggestions at this point?

Go to a local electrician and see if he can fix it?? A power supply shouldnt be that hard to replace I wouldnt think.

just a thought, but if they fix it... and fix it right, u shouldn't have any more issues unless a channel goes out... I would say have KB fix it, pay the 20 bucks for xtended warrenty cause you never know when a channel will go out on you... also, you don't have to worry about shipping to kicker...
