Kicker 15"CVR too much power?

Im getting a 15"Kicker Cvr sub, thats a dual 2 ohm. I have a few questions. Before you start flaming me, Im new to all this so please be gentle. I'm getting the sub and a US Amps IS 2200. It puts out 700 Watts when bridged at 4 ohms. Would this be too much for the sub? The kicker is rated at 500 watts rms and 1000 peak. Also what does dual 2 ohms mean? Any help is greatly appreciated.

dual 2 ohms means that there are 2 voice coils which have a resistance of 2 ohms each.

wired in parralel = 1 ohm, in series = 4 ohms

the 700 RMS will be too much for your sub if you crank the amp like a lotta guys new to car audio do.

more than likely, i see a single sub not being enough bass for you, you turning the bass boost and gains up, clipping and blowing the sub..

and coming back here for more advice.

I/S-2200

200W/Channel RMS @ 4 Ohm

350W/Channel RMS @ 2 OHM

700Wx1 @ 4 Ohm RMS Bridged @
Those are the specs on the amp. I tried looking in the voice coil wiring sticky but the pictures wont work. So i would have to wire it to a 4 ohm load? Or is there a way to do a 2 ohm load?

700 is too much for a CVR daily, especially if you like to turn your bass boost up/eq up/ volume up higher.

I have a pair of the 15's that are blown cuz a local guy thought they were dual 4 ohm and put an MTX 1501d on the pair. They were dual 2 series then paralleled. 1500+ watts at 2 ohm mono + Large sealed box + Bass Boost = Snapped leads.

I'd give them no more than 600 watts each, and even then I'd be careful with the gains and volume.

I can run them on the amp at 200 watts rms @ 4 ohms. Is that going to be enough to power them? If I end up keeping this amp I plan on getting another cvr. Btw the original Blade movie kicks ***
