kerfed port help

so ive been seein some boxed with the flared vent. i want to do the same with my next build. how does it affect tuning? or does it?

from what i understand it's just for looks. and to do something "diffrent"

helps prevent port 'chuffing' due to movement of air along port walls and out the mouth of the port. but other than that? looks mostly. performance should be just about identical without one.
