Kenwood x889 features explained.

I'm just wondering for those of you that have worked with Kenwood x889 headunit. What exactly do the features do, more specifically the WOW set of features. I mean I know that true bass is a type of bass boost and focus attempts to raises the stage, and SRS 3D is kidna self explanatory. But what are the parameters of the functions. For example, the true bass. Does every level boost +3dB, at what frequencies does it boost, at what slope, etc..?

just turn off SRS wow. I had the KDC-MP828, which is like the same thing, just not Excelon. I thought the SRS wow was cool, and then I turned it off, and the music sounded so much.... purer. SRS WOW just adds a bunch of coloration you don't need.

yeah, i prefer not to use any of the functions on the unit that mess with the sound besides the eq, crossover, and ta. All of the other features in my opinion messed up with the sound to much. The automobile type it is in, the speaker and sub sizes, wow and the focus or whatever it is i wasn't a fan of. I usually used the bypass function to bypass the dsp and ran it to my ppi dcx-730. I could really tell the difference when i would have the dsp bypassed from when i wouldn't and i even set all of the settings on the dsp to flat or off so it would be a more fair comparison. With it bypassed it seemed to really give the music the extra bit it needed to get more details in the music out of it. It seemed just a little more clear.

Yeah, personal preference I guess. When I first tried out the SRS, it sounded weird to me and stayed away from it ever since, sounds more full with it off. Focus is interesting, just increased high-end for me, didn't really sound bad, but didn't really help in raising the stage. True bass or Trubass is pretty self explanatory, nice for a little mid-bass boost. I tend to stay away from the param EQ, I like it flat. I do use the rest of the settings for setting the filters and have my amp set at full range, so I guess its somewhat active.

For the time alignment. Did you just take an average measurement from your head to the speakers? For example say its about 2' from drivers side and 4' from passenger side, so should I set the TA to 3'? I found it strange it wasn't for each individual channel.

Forgot to note that I am running DLS UR36i 3-way passive, haven't really broken into yet.

I just found something very strange. On the EQ, for the natural setting, its not entirely flat. All the 4 freq. have anywhere from +1 to +3 dB boost with a moderate Q factor. I thought natural was suppose to be completely flat? So that was contributing to why I had to use some of the WOW features. I also put the front speakers to OEM rather then 6.5".. Sounds much better.
