New system I built. Kenwood X802-5 hooked up to 4 4 ohm component speakers and 2 JL Audio 4 ohm SVC subs. I have the subs wired in parallel to present a 2 ohm load to the amp which handles 2 ohms. No power light on the amp, checked power and remote on wires, both have 12 V. Ground is solid. I hooked up just a single sub and it works most of the time. As soon as I hook up the second sub in parallel, it shuts off ( like in protection mode I guess).

So with sub 1 hooked up it was working for a few hours. I decided to unhook sub 1 and hook up just sub 2. Immediately the amp shut down. I thought maybe bad sub?
I tested each sub with my meter, 4 ohm across the terminal. Wired in parallel, the end connection that would go to the amp is 2 ohm.

No idea what is going on....

The only odd ball is the blue remote wire is not currently spliced to the head unit's remote on wire, but rather a fuse in the fuse box for the head unit. I forgot to hook it up and didnt feel like removing the dash again yet. I wouldn't think this would matter.

Any ideas?

The remote wire location is not an issue. To me it sounds like a bad power supply or bad amplifier. Sometimes the ground wire is not making full contact even though it shows voltage or zero resistance. Same with the power wire. If you screw over the sheathing, you will not get full amperage.

Check your ground wire connection on the amplifier. If both subs read within the Ohms value limitations, and wired together at the 2 ohm limitation, its possible the amplifier may be at fault. May need to pull that amp and bench test it to see if there isnt a supply wiring issue or an issue with that amplifier.

I got it to work, I was plugging in the subwoofer while the amp had power. I unhooked the remote turn on lead, then all speakers plugged in, then remote turn on lead.

All good!
