dude... your selection of woofers should not be based on apperance... most of the "bling bling" woofer are overpriced crap... and RCA??? wtf? don't even think about it. In fact here are a couple pics of some of the best subs around, see there is no bling there except a little on the XXX:

in fact these (the TC sounds TC2+) would be a great budget sub if you can find one used. The type R is the best you've listed so far though:

look around for used or someone who bought them and is selling them... I just got mine for $95 shipped and it was never used...

I'm not sure how it stacks up to a type-r though...

Kenwood's subwoofers are mediocre at best ... Their head units own, though ...

I like them too.. been using them for 8 years... however it's time for something new... my X879 is for sale and I'm getting an alpine 9855

Ya, my first aftermarket radio was a cheap $300 ($200 on ebay) kenwood deck, that i got just because the keys were switchable gree/red, and matched the interior lighting of my jetta, and less than 3 months later i stepped up to an excellon, and never looked back, been running kenwood decks ever since.

The high end alpines are nice too, tho. They get crazy hot, tho.
